About this event

Travel Health Educate was set up by Patricia Brady RGN, Dip in Tropical Nursing (RCSI) to provide a fundamental knowledge of travel healthcare to health professionals in Ireland. She has over 30 years of experience of delivering travel healthcare to clients. She is also a long standing committee member of the Travel Medicine Society of Ireland.

This course is aimed at health professionals who are new to travel medicine, or to those professionals requiring an update of knowledge and wish to take part in the delivery of travel healthcare in a General Practice, Student Health or Occupational Health setting in Ireland. By increasing the health professional’s knowledge of travel related risks, we will improve the safety, practice and quality of care delivered to our clients who are travelling abroad.

ICGP approved this course for 9 CPD External Credits in January 2024, on completion of Parts One & Two.

NMBI awarded 10 Continuing Education Units (CEU) on 28th august 2023.

THE COURSE IS DELIVERED IN TWO PARTS.

Once I book the course, how do I gain access to the learning app?

Your booking will be confirmed by Eventbrite. One week before the course starts, Travel health Educate will email an invite link and instructions to download & access the mobile leaning App to your phone/mobile device. Register your details on the App, once verified, you're ready to start learning.

Can I share the link with a colleague who is not registered for the course?

Unfortunately not. Only one person will be verified per invite link. However, if your colleague is interested in do the course, you can share the Eventbrite details and they can book a place for themselves.

How long does it take to complete each module?

Some will take 30-40 minutes however some with new information may take up to 60 minutes. Each module is broken up into 2, 3 or 4 short bite-size lessons that you can fit into your busy day. If you don't complete all the lessons in the module, that's okay. Just stop and pick up where you left off.

Are there certificates for the In-App modules

Yes. Once you complete a module on the mLearning app, you will be awarded a certificate of completion. Download each certificate and add to your continuing education portfolio.

The "Fundamentals of Travel Health in the General Practice Setting" course is delivered in two part over 5 weeks.

The course is delivered in two parts.

Part one: is 9 modules delivered via a dedicated mobile learning platform over 4 weeks ( 2 per week). Each module contains 2, 3 or 4 bite-size lessons. AND

Part Two: consists of a half-day interactive zoom meeting and includes an interactive session focusing on

Yellow Fever Vaccine, Less Common Travel Vaccines, Pre-Travel Risk Assessment, Vaccine Planning & Case Studies, group work with opportunity for Q & A at the end. A series of "Rapid Refresh Quiz" are assigned during the first four weeks via the mLearning App and Post Course evaluation following the Zoom session. Attendance at the zoom meeting is essential.

Part One must complete One prior to the Zoom session.

The course was recognised by ICGP in January 2024 and approved this course for 9 CPD External Credits on completion of Parts One & Two.

NMBI re-awarded Category One status on 28th august 2023, increasing approval to 10 Continuing Education Units (CEU) .

Course Requirements:

All participants must be registered with NMBI or IMC and an interest in Travel Medicine & Health. Course participants should also be familiar with HSE Guidelines for Vaccination in General Practice, Immunisation Guidelines for Ireland (RCPI) & the National Anaphylaxis Education program for Healthcare Professionals (HSELand).
