Critical care echocardiography is a core skill for all EM and ICM trainees. FUSIC Heart (Focussed Intensive Care Ultrasound) covers all the knowledge and practical skills that you need to become proficient in basic echocardiography.Our half-day FUSIC Heart course provides you with 4 hours of practical scanning sessions to develop your critical care ultrasound skills.S﻿ee <a href="https://ics.ac.uk/learning/fusic.html" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">FUSIC</a> for more details on the accreditation pathwayThe course covers:<ul><li>Basic ultrasound physics, machine controls, basic views and image optimisation</li></ul><ul><li>Scanning the heart from the PLAX, PSAX, A4C and subcostal windows</li></ul><ul><li>Recognition of cardiac anatomy and pathology</li></ul><ul><li>IVC, pericardial and pleural fluid</li></ul><ul><li>Point-of-care lung ultrasound examination and recognition of pulmonary pathology</li></ul>Faculty will include experienced UK based FUSIC/FAMUS educators Dr. Marcus Peck (FUSIC Heart co-lead), Dr Nick Smallwood FAMUS Lead, Dr Segun Olusanya, and Dr. Ashley Miller (FUSIC Heart co-lead) along with with local expert facultyP﻿re-course learning will be provided on registrationQ﻿ueries - cianmcdermott@mater.ie
