Event description
Social enterprises in the West of Ireland are providing valuable services in the circular economy and contributing to the rural environment

About this event

The second of our ‘Future is Social’ Webinar series will focus on the role of social enterprises in the circular economy and how their work impacts all levels of society with a particular focus on the West of Ireland.

In rebuilding our society post Covid-19, social enterprises are the businesses with a social mission that can pave the path to a better Ireland.

We will hear from Martin Ward, Manager of Bounce Back Recycling, on his experience of setting up and growing a social enterprise in Galway.

Pete Murtagh, Environmental Awareness Officer, Sligo County Council, will outline the importance of this service and how it aligns with the work of our Local Authorities on waste reduction, landfill and recycling.

Dr Andrew Forde, Department of Rural and Community Development, will share the contribution social enterprises can make to rural Ireland particularly in relation to the recently published policy ‘Our Rural Future’.

The impact at the local level of national social enterprises will be reflected on by Mary Jackson, Project Coordinator, Tacu Family Resource Centre in Mayo, who will share her experiences of working with Foodcloud.
