Set in the vibrant heart of Knocknaheeny, Gealtra by Brendan Canty (Christy) follows a group of teenagers from The Kabin Studio, a youth-led creativity hub, as they embark on a journey to explore their identities through music, poetry and the Irish language. Under the mentorship of renowned rapper and spoken word artist Séamus Barra Ó Súilleabháin, the young participants dive deep into their personal histories, cultural heritage and the power of creative expression. As we observe the profound impact The Kabin has had on so many young people, we discover a story of inclusivity, joy and the life-changing power of community and self-expression. Gealtra won Best Irish Feature Film at the 2025 Cork International Film Festival and had its international premiere at Hot Docs Festival in Toronto - the biggest documentary film festival in North America.
