Gwenno is known for hypnotic, boundary-pushing psychedelic pop sung in Welsh, Cornish and English; an electrifying, one-of-a-kind performer.
In July 2025 Gwenno released her hugely anticipated and highly acclaimed new album Utopia via Heavenly Recordings. Following the singles ‘Dancing On Volcanoes, ‘War’ and ‘Y Gath’, Gwenno shared a ravishing video for the album’s gorgeous and dreamlike title track.
‘Utopia’ paints a picture of someone living their life against the rapidly fading colours of Las Vegas. That story is sung over an ever-evolving groove that sounds like a Philly Soul band taking Moon Safari on an exciting new journey into the cosmos.
Gwenno Saunders is a musician, songwriter, producer, and curator with a career spanning over 25 years. She has released four solo albums and two albums as a member of indie-pop group The Pipettes. Her solo work has earned major recognition, including the Welsh Music Prize (2015) for Y Dydd Olaf and a Mercury Music Prize shortlist (2022) for Tresor. Gwenno has composed and performed live scores for theatre and film, including The Caucasian Chalk Circle and Mark Jenkin’s BAIT. She is also a festival curator with the Wales Millennium Centre. Previously a principal dancer in Lord of the Dance and a performer in Riverdance, Gwenno has toured internationally across music, dance, and film.
