1.	How long is the Head2Head Walk?

Accepted Answer

The Head2Head Walk is a 42km walk from Howth Head to Sandymount Strand and from Sandymount Strand to Bray. Most of our walkers do the entire walk but some walkers prefer to walk from Howth to Sanydmount or from Sandymount to Bray.

2.	Do I need to train for this walk?

Accepted Answer

Given that you are walking the equivalent of a marathon or half-marathon if you are doing half the walk, we recommend that you get plenty of walking in before the event so that you can enjoy your walk on the day.

3.	Do I need to fundraise for this walk?

Accepted Answer

This charity walk encourages everyone to set up a fundraising page and share it with family and friends to support your commitment to walking a marathon. Your entry fee covers the event costs, while funds raised help Cystic Fibrosis Ireland continue providing vital services and support for PWCF.

4.	Can I donate on the day?

Bucket collections and tap to donate machines will be available at Howth, Sandymount and Bray during the day for anyone that would like to donate.

5.	Who organises this walk?

Accepted Answer

This is a charity walk organised by a group of volunteers from the Eastern Branch of Cystic Fibrosis Ireland in conjunction with the fundraising team in CFI. On the day all of the marshals along the route are volunteers and there to ensure you have a great day and enjoy your walk.

6.	What time does the walk start?

The walk starts in Howth at 9am. We will have a warm up with all walker from 8.45am. For anyone walking from Sandymount, you can start walking from 12pm. All walkers should finish in Bray between 3 and 4pm.

7.	Are there marshals along the route to help us on the day?

Accepted Answer

Marshals will be available to direct you and help at busy junctions during these times:
Howth to Sandymount: 9 am – 12 pm & Sandymount to Bray: 12 pm – 4 pm. Please follow their advice and walk within these designated times to ensure you have their support for a safer and more enjoyable walk.

8.	What should I wear for the walk?

Accepted Answer

Wear suitable footwear for the long walk on roads. Ensure you wear your Head2Head shirt so our marshals can identify and assist you. Check the weather forecast in advance and dress appropriately for the conditions.

9.	Is the walk strictly for people of 16 and over?

Accepted Answer

Given the length of the walk, it is restricted to people of 16 years of age or older. You are more than welcome to bring along any children to the start, Sandymount or Bray to join in on the day and encourage you along your walk. However, for the walk itself, no under 16’s are allowed to participate

10. Can I bring my dog on the walk?

As this is a 42km, it would not be suitable for any pets so no dogs are allowed on the walk.

11. Will there be any food and water provided during the walk?

Accepted Answer

Yes, snacks and water will be available at the start in Howth and at the halfway point in Sandymount and at the finish in Bray. This will include bananas, jellies and bars so you will be well looked after all day.

12.  Are there toilets available along the route?

Accepted Answer

Toilets are available at the start point in Howth. On the walk from Howth to Sandymount, toilets are available at the Clontarf Bus Depot. Public toilets and Portaloos are available at Sandymount . For the rest of the route toilets are available in the various outlets open along the route.

13. When do I get my finishers medal?

Accepted Answer

Medals will be presented to everyone finishing in Sandymount and then to everyone else who finishes in Bray. Cystic Fibrosis Ireland staff will have tables in Howth, Sandymount and Bray with water, snacks and the medals. Give them and shout and they will answer any questions you may have.

14. How can I give feedback about my walk?

You will receive an email with a feedback survey directly after the walk. We encourage you to fill this out as we would like to share your story with everyone if you enjoyed the walk and learn from any feedback you may have on how we can improve the walk.
