About this event

Over 75,000 Ukrainians have arrived in Ireland since the start of the war. In the midst of a wider housing crisis, the state has run out of emergency accommodation for new arrivals. We need more hosts!

We're going around the country with our Roadshow to celebrate the local community response, recognise existing hosts, recruit new ones and make sure everyone feels confident and supported in their hosting journey.

Join us!

South Dublin hosts and potential hosts, we'd love to see you at this session at Dun Laoghaire County Hall, facilitated in partnership with Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council.

WHAT TO EXPECT

The event is hosted by TV and radio presenter Mary Kennedy and you'll hear from local host families and their Ukrainian guests, Angie Gough from Helping Irish Hosts and expert partners from The Irish Red Cross, Ukrainian Action, The Irish Refugee Council and The Open Community.

During the event you'll get a chance to:

- Hear what we've learned after a year of hosting

- Explore the ups and downs of hosting and where to go for assistance

- Connect with other hosts in your community and exchange support and guidance

- Receive updates on the services and information available to hosts and displaced Ukrainians

- See what happens when communities host together

- Remember why we're all here and feel inspired by the difference you're making!

There'll be a Q & A with the experts where you can safely ask anything and everything and between us we'll find an answer.

WHO IS THIS EVENT FOR

If you're currently hosting in South Dublin*, come along to share your experience - the good, the bad and the ugly... If you're curious about hosting and want to know more, please come see what it's all about and get some honest answers.

Stay on for a cuppa and a chat afterwards.

NOTE: This event is in English and is specifically aimed at supporting people currently hosting or interested in hosting. Ukrainians interested in finding out about being hosted in an Irish home should visit our website for more info - https://linktr.ee/HIH_info_for_Ukrainians

*North Dublin hosts, we'll be taking our Roadshow series to Fingal in June, so stay tuned! All Hosts are welcome to join if the time, date and location suit 💙💛
