Award-winning Dublin five-piece I Draw Slow bring their extraordinary blend of Irish sensibility and American roots music to Ballina.
Described by The Sunday Times as "exquisite," and by The Irish Independent as "one of the most beguiling and singular acts on the circuit," I Draw Slow are one of Ireland's finest and most distinctive musical exports.
Led by siblings Dave and Louise Holden, this Dublin five-piece have spent over a decade building an extraordinary body of work at the crossroads of Irish song and American roots music — bluegrass, Appalachian folk, and Americana performed with world-class musicianship and a rare, intimate warmth.
Alongside Dave and Louise, the band features Adrian Hart on fiddle, Colin Derham on banjo, and Konrad Liddy on upright bass. Their four critically acclaimed albums, released on Nashville's Compass Records, have taken them across 25 US states and to major folk and roots festivals across North America and Europe. Their album Turn Your Face to the Sun reached number one on the Irish Independent Album charts.
Hot Press called their music "spellbinding." Folk Radio UK said "flat out brilliant." Country Music Television in the US described it as "gritty as it is beautiful."
On 10 October, they come to St Michael's Church, Ballina - a festival favourite venue and the perfect setting for this gig.
