We are looking forward to seeing as many of you as possible at the IAPTP AGM 2024

Saturday, the 18th of May in the Creggan Court Hotel, Athlone.

We have wonderful training lined up with our guest speaker Mike Hackett MIACP IASD who will be presenting and teaching on contemporary dream work.

Three masters students will present their research:

Susan McCormack: A Judged Therapist? An Exploration of Childless / Childfree Female PlayTherapist Experiences and Perspectives

Anne Blaine: Prescribing Play: An exploration of the perspectives of pediatric healthcare professionals on the value of parent-child play (prenatal-2 years) in supporting the attachment relationship.

Margaret Daly: An exploration of the impact of an understanding of "The Polyvagal Theory" on a teacher's perception of the teacher/student relationship and classroom management practice.

Will will be holding the Anne Brennan Memorial Kindness Award - please email your nominees to info@iaptp.ie by May 12th.

To honor Anne Brennan's legacy we will be awarding an Anne Brennan Memorial Kindness award again this year at our AGM. We ask members to nominate a fellow IAPTP member who has shown you kindness during the year. Please email this address with the subject line: Anne Brennan Memorial Kindness award, with details of who you wish to nominate and why. Please include if you wish to remain anonymous as all submissions will be circulated to those nominated. A winner will be drawn at random. Entries must be in by 12th May to be included in the draw

Toy and Book Swap

Bring along any toys or therapy tools that you no longer use or need and you might pick something up for yourself, or see your unwanted items find a new home. Or bring relavant books; academic research, psychoeducational, therapeutic stories etc.

Food

Scones, teas/coffees on arrival

Lunch will be provided, as well as teas/coffees and snacks for breaks.

There are other lunch options close by if you wih to make your own arrangments.

There will be lots of opportunities to meet and chat with our therapist community so please come along and feel connected.


Speaker biography: Mike Hackett MIACP IASD is an accredited therapist and supervisor in private practice. Mike is also the Republic of Ireland Regional Representative for the International Association for the Study of Dreams (IASD). In both undergraduate and postgraduate studies, Mike's focus has been on bringing the dream back into psychotherapeutic practice by assisting therapists, supervisors and lay people interested in dreams in developing their dream work skills. Mike has worked on his own dreams for over 25 years and his research on dreams and dream work in contemporary psychotherapy practice have been published in the International Journal of Dream Research. Mike's passion for the dream is infectious and his ability to make dream work techniques accessible for use with clients is sure to inspire his audience to begin or deepen their own work with dreams for personal or professional purposes.
