ICADemy: Type

A non-profit, membership led body, the Institute of Creative Advertising and Design (ICAD) is made up of the best creatives in Ireland. Our primary aim is to support creative excellence in Irish Advertising and Design and those working within the industry.

Type is the first in a series of ICADemy design events that set out to explore through visual analogy, presentation and discussion the fundamental elements essential to the practice of graphic design.
ICADemy: Type speakers will include Mary Anne Bolger, Clare Bell, Max Philips, Scott Burnett and Séan Mongey, with contributions from Dr Jonathan C. Creasy, Eric Donovan, Stephen Kerr, Nenad Djordjevic and This is How we Fly.
The discipline of Type will be explored through three speaker presentations, asking What? Why? and How? Each speaker will give a presentation representing three unique aspects of the subject, these being Academics, Expertise and Philosophy, featuring approaches ranging from the practical to the more ethereal.
The evening will also include the presentation of four visual analogies, covering Skillset, Practice, Rhythm and Composition; as well as a panel discussion, audience participation, a display of examples of exemplary Type design from Irish designers, and live musical performances.
Ticket price includes Third Circle beer and James Joyce gin reception. Not to be missed.
