Description
The Castle at Ballyedmond was built to a design by architect Sir Charles Lanyon in the 1850s. Most of the mature trees were planted in this period and the overall planting has been greatly extended and enhanced by Lady Ballyedmond, an IGPS member, and her late husband.
Situated on the shores of Carlingford Lough, the mild climate extends the growing season and the range of plants that can be successfully grown, including those from South America, Asia and Australia. There is a variety of settings (including a woodland garden with a stumpery, dry garden, rose garden and walled garden) for displaying the wonderful collections of plants which include rhododendrons, magnolias, camellias, other shrubs and trees, roses and many varieties of ferns, perennials and bulbs. The gardens also contain a wide range of statuary, impressive formal fountains / water gardens and garden buildings.
Please wear appropriate footwear for walking across a variety of surfaces (hard surfaces, woodland paths, meadows and gravel).
This event is for IGPS members only and there are no tickets for personal guests who are not members.
