Info Night on Glenbower Wood Community Stewardship
Meet the Glenbower committee & learn how to get involved with increasing biodiversity & removing invasive species (virtual option provided)
Thursday, December 11th at Greywood Arts at 7pm
Enter through the small gate in the driveway, teas and coffee provided.
Come learn the story of this small and mighty woodland up until the present day and contribute to the community conversation about ongoing invasive species removal in the community-owned section of Glenbower.
A portion of Killeagh's Glenbower woodland has been community-owned since 1995, when the Glenbower Wood & Lake CLG purchased it for restoration and community use. A volunteer committee continues to oversee management of this section and is excited to welcome in new members and helpers. (You can learn more about the woods and related events here)
For the next year, the Glenbower Wood & Lake CLG has funds to create a community-led action plan to foster more biodiversity and remove invasive species, with assistance from organizations like Wild Fern Ecology and the Gaelic Woodland Project .
Join us on December 11th to learn how about upcoming works in the woods and how you can help steward this place for generations to come.
Supported by the EirGrid Celtic Interconnector Community Benefit Fund managed by SECAD and the Climate Action Works Engagement Fund from Community Foundation Ireland.
“Seeing the Wood for the Trees”, is a collaboration between Glenbower Wood & Lake, Greywood Arts and Nocht Studio. Funded by Create – National Development Agency for Collaborative Arts, Arts Council of Ireland, Cork County Council, Creative Ireland & Community Foundation Ireland.
