Biodiversity Walk into Kinnagoe Bay
About this event
Join us on an exploration of the rich biodiversity of the Long Glen River and Kinnagoe Bay in North Donegal.
This promises to be an excellent walk and talk with well known wildlife expert Aengus Kennedy from NatureNorthWest. Starting at 2pm in the Inishowen Maritime Museum, Greencastle, we have planned an exciting itinerary.
Schedule
2.00pm - Meeting at Inishowen Maritime Museum. Welcome address and launch of a new drone video of Kinnagoe Bay and the Long Glen River, co-ordinated by local residents.
2.30pm - Hop on a bus to Kinnagoe where we will be dropped at the top of the Long Glen River. From here we will see wonderful vistas of the surrounding countryside as we walk towards the bay.
On the way we will stop to explore a section of the river and the wildlife that lives in it, before descending down onto Kinnagoe beach where we will meet with seaweed expert William McElhinney.
5.30pm - We will climb out of the bay and board the bus back to Greencastle giving us the chance to chat about all our discoveries!
Please note: This walk is moderate and involves a steep decline and incline. Please wear appropriate footwear and weather proof clothing.
This event is organised in collaboration with Inishowen Rivers Trust and is part of a weekend series of events on the heritage of Kinnagoe Bay.
Funded by the Local Authority Waters Programme.
