About this event

Think-Tank for Action on Social Change (TASC) partnered with Safe Ireland, the Irish Banking Culture Board (IBCB), along with its member banks, to design and deliver a bespoke financial resilience training initiative to support victims of domestic abuse. The initiative was also supported by the Money Advice and Budgeting Service (MABS).

The initiative was designed to build skills and knowledge in financial resilience for specialist domestic violence keyworkers who work directly with victims of domestic abuse. The aim was to allow them to more effectively support victims of financial abuse and coercion. The training programme ran from October 2022 to March 2023 and 36 specialist domestic violence keyworkers working with Safe Ireland member organisations across Ireland completed the training.

The event will include an address about the issue of financial abuse and coercion in Ireland, showcase what trainees have learned and how they have applied this to their work, and findings from an evaluation of the programme. This panel discussion will be followed by a Q & A.

Speakers:

  • Marion Kelly, CEO, IBCB
  • Mary McDermott, CEO, Safe Ireland
  • Dr Sara Singleton, Senior Researcher, TASC
  • Bridget Clarke, retired MABS and Financial Resilience Trainer
