Intro to Laser Cutting

Fab Lab Limerick started in 2012 as an elective course at the School of Architecture, UL in which open source 3D printers, CNC routers and laser cutters were built. In 2014 this self-build equipment was moved to an empty building in the city centre owned by Limerick City Council.Since then, Fab Lab Limerick has evolved into a fully functional digital fabrication laboratory that offers cultural, educational and research programmes on digital fabrication, bridging the gap between these technologies and creatives from all disciplines.

Our Equipment Introductions consist of short courses, that will get you started using Fab Lab equipment. These are introductory courses. No previous experience is required.<h2>Laser Cutting</h2>Learn to make your own designs in plastic, textile, paper, cardboard, timber quickly and accurately, with our professional Trotec Laser Engraver. Learn how to prepare your own designs, the wide variety of materials possible, safe operation of the machine.Bring along a notebook, or a laptop if you wish. If you have an idea of something you'd like to test or to make, let us know. If there is time, we may be able to try it!<h2>Details</h2>Dates and Times: This course is on Saturday, Sept 28th from 11am. The course will take approx. 1hr 30 mins.Pricing: Workshops are €20 for students or €35 for adults.Restrictions: Under 14's must be accompanied by an adult.Note: There are concessions available if you have done the 3D Printing and CNC tutorial already.
