The focus of this talk will be on the historical monuments and landscapes of Limerick and surrounding areas. We will look at the geology of the rugged West coast - best characterized by the world famous Cliffs of Moher - and to the stone circles and monuments left by Ireland's early Stone Age settlers. We look to local examples of island monasteries, with their beehive huts and round towers, medieval castles and later famine houses in order to unearth the story of Ireland's past.
