James Nesbitt gained prominence with standout roles in the BBC's thriller "The Missing" and the beloved comedy-drama "Cold Feet". Nesbitt also starred in the 2021 Netflix mystery thriller "Stay Close", which earned a National Film Award nomination. Nesbitt appeared in several plays like "Translations", "Philadelphia Here I Come" before moving to significant TV roles.

His breakthrough came with "Cold Feet" (1998-2003), portraying Adam Williams, which brought him a British Comedy Award and a National Television Award. Nesbitt's diverse roles include the lead in "Murphy’s Law", the modern retelling of "The Miller’s Tale", for BBC's "Canterbury Tales" and the Golden Globe-nominated series "Jekyll".He also portrayed Bofur in Peter Jackson's "Hobbit" trilogy andstarred in various films including "Bloody Sunday",which won him a BAFTA nomination and a Best Actor award at the British Independent Film Awards.

Beyond acting, Nesbitt has been the Chancellor of the University of Ulster since 2010 and a UNICEF Ambassador since 2005.
