Event description

Description

Kevin Conneff is the bodhrán player and vocalist with The Chieftains since 1976. Apart from his work with The Chieftains, he often works with other musicians in duos or trios. He also does solo gigs and workshops at home and abroad.

Tim Edey, BBC R2 Best musician of 2012, is born across the water in Co. Kent. Tim is both a successful solo and session artist with his recent album “Sailing Over the 7th String” produced by none other than Robin Wynn Evans (producer to The Manic street preachers). Tim’s CV is like a who’s who of Irish music - Christy Moore, The Chieftains, Mary Black, Altan, Begley & Cooney and Sharon Shannon to name a few.

Gay McKeon is one of Irelands most accomplished uilleann pipers, coming from a family noted for their musical tradition and has recorded two albums, “Irish Piping Tradition” (1987) and “The Dusty Miller” (2005). Gay is a renowned advocate and ambassador for the pipes and traditional music in general and is currently CEO of Na Píobairí Uilleann, having served on the board of the organisation since 1987.

Surely not a gig to miss!

FAQs:

Where is the venue?

St. Kevins Church of Ireland is located in the small picturesque village of Hollywood in County Wicklow and has been the main venue for the festival since its inception in 1991. It is the oldest church in Leinster still in active use and dates back to the 12th century!

GPS coordinates: 53.091104, -6.595665

What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?

Hollywood is a small picturesque village at the foot of the Wicklow mountains, bearing that in mind there are little if no public transport links in the area. Street parking is available in the village. The 65 Dublin Bus route provides a link to Blessington/Ballymore from Dublin city centre and local taxis are available in Blessington.

Music Under The Mountains will also be providing a subsidised bus service for all event ticket holders, the bus will drop concertgoers within a 10km radius of the village, this would cover Ballymore Eustace, Donard, Blessington, Dunlavin and Valleymount. To avail of this service you will need your printed ticket or screenshot on your phone for verification. The bus will operate on Friday, Saturday and Sunday at two fixed collection times.
