<p>Directed by Karen Minihan, with Fiona York playing Laura, and Susan Nares on the piano, it tells the remarkable story of Laura Wilson Barker: composer, artist, wife, mother and friend to some of Victorian Britain’s most celebrated literary and artistic figures. From her childhood in rural Yorkshire to the glittering salons of London society, through Laura’s own voice, we encounter some of the vibrant people who filled her world, while discovering a woman whose own story has largely slipped from public memory.By turns humorous, moving, and thought-provoking, Laura is a portrait of a gifted Victorian woman reflecting on the choices she made. Did she make the most of opportunities she had? Did she leave dreams unexplored?</p>
