Event description

Whether it’s organising a BBQ with neighbours, a birthday party, a church ministry or an outreach project, working with others is an essential part of life and leadership.

It can be an exhilarating experience and it can also be a minefield of frustration.

As part of the body that is the church, we are called to work together. More than that, in John 17, Jesus calls us to unity.

Working with others isn’t always easy. And yet we know that the impact when we work together well can be transformational – for ourselves and for those we serve.

Leading for Life is a day of practical training, to inspire and equip all those involved in leading and serving others. Whether you are currently working by yourself, part of a team or leading a team, Leading for Life will provide an opportunity to take some time out and invest in how you can work with others more effectively. There will be time to reflect, discuss, hear stories and connect with others. We will learn with and from people involved in ministry and mission teams. And we will explore how that applies to the teams we serve with regularly, and how we can work with other groups and ministries for the sake of those we serve in our communities.

"Leading for Life is an enormously practical training day. The follow up communication and coaching meant I really did put my learning into practice." - Emma Rothwell

9.30am - Arrival and Registration

10.00am - Session 1 - Working together: Foundations (Ana Mullan)
This session, rooted in 1 Corinthians 12, gives space and time to reflect and discuss how our theology of the body of the Church shapes how we work together.

11am - Break

11.30am - Session 2 - Working together: Teams (Marilyn Nyquist)
What does it mean to be part of a team? How can we bring our best to the teams, ministries and committees we are part of, and how can we bring out the best in others?

12.45pm - Lunch (Provided)

1.45pm - Session 3 - Working Together: Collaboration (Sam Moore)
Collaboration is vital if we are to see long term change in the people and places we serve. What practical steps can we take to work together with other churches, parishes and organisations to more effectively serve our communities in mission?

3.10pm - Break

3.40pm - Session 4 - Working together: Where do we go from here?
How can you connect with people from different places who are interested in and passionate about the same issues as you?

4.30pm - End

How do I get to Leading for Life?

Click here to find the church on Google Maps.

From the city centre, walk up Dame Street onto High Street, passing Christchurch Cathedral on your right. This leads directly onto Thomas Street. Saint Catherine’s is located 500 meters up the road, on the left-hand side.

Public transport:
As Saint Catherine’s is located on the cross-city bus route, it’s adequately served by public transport from both the north and south sides of the city. Buses 123 (Marino – Drimnagh), 13 (City Centre – Grange Castle), and 40 (Aston Quay – Liffey Valley Shopping Centre) all serve Thomas Street, stopping directly outside the church. Further information is available at the Dublin Bus website.

The Luas Red Line (Tallaght – Connolly Station) passes within a 10-15 minute walk of Saint Catherine’s. The nearest stops are at St. James’ Hospital [James's], The National Museum of Ireland [Museum], and Smithfield Village [Smithfield]. While the Museum and Smithfield stops are on the north side of the river, they are still within walking distance of the church.
