In Make Your Home A Nature Reserve (coming April 2024, The O’Brien Press) ecologist Donna Mullen explores the many ways in which we can invite nature into our home. Join Donna on this special walk around the beautiful National Botanic Garden in Wicklow as she discusses the amazing secret lives of Ireland’s wildlife - from bees and butterflies to hedgehogs and even bats - and the ways in which we can provide a safe space from them in and around our own homes, in a time when natural habitats are coming under increasing pressure.

Donna Mullen has worked as an ecologist for over thirty years and is a founding member of Bat Conservation Ireland and the Irish Environmental Network. She met her husband at a bat group meeting, and together they bought a farm in Meath and turned it into Golashane Nature Reserve. The reserve, home to several people and hundreds of plants, birds, mammals, insects and amphibians, has won several awards, including an EU Rural Inspiration award. Every week someone arrives at the door to ask how to create a nature reserve in their own home, so she decided to write a book to help show people how to do it themselves!
