Maker Collage Lab — An Upcycling Experiment

When we laser cut, there are always pieces left behind.

Circles, letters, corners, strange shapes, tests, mistakes and offcuts from previous projects. We started collecting them instead of throwing them away.

Maker Collage Lab is what happens when we put all those pieces back on the table.

There is no project you have to follow and nothing you need to know before coming.

You choose from hundreds of wooden pieces and start playing, moving things around, combining shapes, adding colour, layering pieces and seeing what happens.

Maybe it becomes an abstract artwork.
Maybe a character.
Maybe a sign, a little object or something completely unexpected.

The idea is simple: use what is already there and make something new from it.

It’s a relaxed workshop. Come on your own, with a friend, your partner or family. Take your time, try things, change your mind and make something with your hands.

All materials and tools are included, and you take home whatever you make.

No experience needed. No fixed outcome.

Upcycling at Technē

For us, upcycling is not just about reducing waste.

It’s about looking at what is left from one making process and asking:

What else could this become?

The leftovers from one project become material for the next.

About Technē Makers

Technē Makers is a creative practice and digital fabrication studio in Dublin.

Our workshops are a chance to spend some time making with your hands, explore materials, try something new and discover different ways of turning ideas into physical things.

Technology is part of the process, but it’s only a tool.

Technē lives in the space between thinking and doing.
