Event description
This webinar will focus on professional development in Higher Education, exploring the priorities, opportunities and frameworks for PD.

About this Event

This online session will provide an overview of the PROGRESS project, which is exploring how to support the professional development of staff in LYIT. The webinar is aligned to one of the primary aims of the National Forum’s National Professional Development Framework to guide networking and peer learning opportunities for those who are engaged in their own professional development.

Our keynote speakers are: Prof. Merrilyn Goos, Professor of STEM Education and Director of EPI*STEM, the National Centre for STEM Education at the University of Limerick and Dr Róisín Donnelly, Head of Learning Development, TU Dublin & Secotral PD Implementation Manager with the National Forum.

Dr Eílis Flanagan will present an overview of LYIT's PROGRESS study and Dr Lynn Ramsey will moderate discussion and provide the closing remarks.

The webinar is especially timely considering the challenges of remote working during COVID-19 . Within this context, there is an ever-increasing need for the HE sector to engage staff about their experiences of and prioirties for their continued professional growth. We will discuss how an evidence-base can be created and implemented to enhance and support professional practice, student success and career progression.
