May Blossoms & Briars
Arranging with delicate spring flowers and woody branches
Step into spring with “May Blossoms & Briars,” a special evening demonstration led by acclaimed floral artist Britta Baranowsky. Hosted by the Dungarvan Flower & Garden Club, this event invites you to immerse yourself in the art of arranging delicate spring blooms and woody branches—capturing the essence of this magical season.
Britta’s story is rooted in both creativity and expertise. Trained in landscape architecture in Berlin, she spent years consulting for Carlow County Council and private clients, shaping gardens and green spaces with a keen, artistic eye. In 2011, Britta’s passion for plants took a more personal turn as she began growing flowers for cutting. What started as a small venture soon flourished, first at the bustling Enniscorthy Farmers Market and now bringing the colors of the field directly to Dublin’s flower lovers.
Britta’s floral philosophy is simple: arrangements reflect what’s happening in nature . She lets the size, shape, and personality of each stem guide her, resulting in designs that are organic, spontaneous, and full of life. Her greatest joy? Seeing people’s eyes light up when they receive a bouquet.
During “May Blossoms & Briars,” Britta will share her signature techniques in a live demonstration. Watch as she creates elegant hand-tied bouquets brimming with spring’s freshest flowers, charming jars filled with field-grown blooms, arrangements using foraged treasures, and vases featuring flowering branches that bring the outdoors in. Each design will highlight the beauty of both cultivated flowers and wild, woody stems—showing that true artistry lies in embracing the unique character of every plant.
Whether you’re a seasoned gardener, a floral enthusiast, or simply someone who delights in the sights and scents of spring, this evening promises inspiration and joy.
