Join us for our May Business Breakfast with guest speakers from the Vancouver GAA Divisional Board, Darren McAndrew (Chairperson) and Lorraine Muckian (Secretary).


For this month's event, Darren and Lorraine will speak about the upcoming 2024 Canadian National Championships which will take place in Burnaby on Labour Day Weekend.


Please note that this is an in-person only event and it will not be possible to join online. Spaces are limited so early registration is recommended.

Darren has worked in the construction industry for over 20 years. He has an honours degree in Structural Engineering from Dublin Institute of Technology. He arrived in Vancouver in 2010 and has been working in Construction Management on infrastructure projects throughout the Lower Mainland such as Skytrain stations, Airport Runway Extensions, Lions Gate Bridge Bearing Replacement, Ruskin Dam Powerhouse Upgrade and many other large projects.


Darren has been involved in the GAA since a very young age, playing Junior and U21 for Wicklow. Upon arriving in Vancouver he played with ISSC Vancouver from 2010 to 2017. In 2018 he started up Vancouver Eire Og serving as Chairperson until 2022. The Vancouver GAA Division was established in 2021 and Darren has been serving as Chairperson since its inception and acting as chair since 2018 prior to the division becoming officially recognised. He is also chairperson of the newly formed youth GAA club, Vancouver Le Cheile.

Lorraine Muckian, PhD, is a Principal Consultant with Environmental Resources Management (ERM) based in their Vancouver, Canada office. Lorraine has 20 years’ experience working in a range of technical, regulatory, and consulting positions. Having arrive in Vancouver in 2011, Lorraine now has over ten years of experience working within the natural resource sector in BC, providing technical and regulatory strategy support to projects requiring permits and authorizations from multiple government agencies.


Lorraine joined the Irish Sporting and Social Club (ISSC) Vancouver in 2011 having played intercounty and club football in Ireland in both Louth (Cooley Kickhams) and Laois (Mountmellick Sarsfields). Highlights to date include representing Ireland in the TG4 Compromise Rules Series in 2006 against Australia, receiving All Stars for both Louth and Laois, and winning the inaugural Canadian National Senior Championship with ISSC in 2021.
