About this event

MaynoothSparks 2023: "Collaboration"

This year MaynoothSparks will consist of two events:

1. 10.00am to 11.00 am - A panel discussion between academics who are collaborating across diverse disciplines. The discussion will focus on the 'nitty gritty' of collaboration across disciplinary norms - on finding partners and identifying the necessary expertise, and the barriers of disciplinary norms & languages and how to overcome them to really make collaborative projects fly.

The panel will include Dr Nicola Mountford, School of Business and Prof Seán Doyle, Dept of Biology who work together on the NeoSepsis ‘Health’ Sustainable Development Goal Challenge’. It will also include Dr John Dooley, Dept of Electrical Engineering, as well as Dr Galyna Otlyvanska, an Economist and displaced researcher from the Ukraine who collaborate in the area of next generation telecommunications (6G and beyond). The panel discussion will be moderated by Ciara Cotter, Public Affairs and Change Manager at Science Foundation Ireland (SFI).

2. 11.00am - 12.30pm -MaynoothSparks talks on the theme of “Collaboration”. We’ll have a range of speakers with interesting stories to tell about what Collaboration means to them and their work. Each speaker will have 6 minutes for their talk and be limited to maximum of 12 slides, which will make for a fast-moving, diverse, and enjoyable event.
