Mental Health Ireland will host a special Connect Café event on Friday, November 7th from 10am to 1pm, in The National Hotel in Ballina bringing people together to build on the success of the Hello | Ballina Café and develop the Wellness Café model across Mayo, inspired by the award-winning initiative in Donegal.Sharon Ferguson, founder of the Wellness Café movement in Donegal and Mental Health &amp; Wellbeing Project Officer at ATU Donegal, will be a key speaker. She will share her experience of establishing the model, how it can be replicated, and what supports are available for communities interested in starting their own.The event will bring together people from across the community — volunteers, local organisations, health and social care professionals, and residents of all ages — to discuss how simple, peer-led spaces can promote wellbeing and connection.This Connect Café format ensures conversations, feedback, and co-production of the initiative in Mayo, shaping how the Wellness Café model can grow locally and regionally.Ahead of the event, Midwest Radio will host a special outside broadcast on Wednesday, November 5th, featuring interviews with speakers and community voices to highlight the event and invite participation.Free and open to all – tea, coffee and refreshments provided.
