A night not to be missed!

Jazz at Newpark is the home of the jazz education department that drives our organisation’s efforts to advance the appreciation, understanding, and performance of jazz. This department offers a continuum of jazz education programmes that are designed to suit the varied interests and capabilities of children, teens, and adults. Students learn about jazz’s heritage and history as well as its greatest musicians and compositions; they explore its connection to other art forms, and also study how to play jazz. Our Ensemble Improvisation Course at Newpark, is set in a welcoming and non-judgmental environment, where participants will be encouraged to play and improvise. Students will have the unique opportunity to work in-depth on improvisation techniques, learning jazz standards, practical rhythmic tools to connect with the rhythm section and much more. The major stylistic eras of jazz will be covered through a variety of repertoire introduced to the ensembles weekly by each teacher. Each student will learn to understand the role of their instrument/voice within an ensemble context. This is the longest running course of its kind in Ireland.
