About this event

A creative, embodied day of curiosity, delight and mindful presence, on Heir Island, a wild, tiny island in West Cork, just beyond Skibbereen. We will spend the day in the delightful Heir Island retreat centre, and outdoors urrounded by the ocean, open skies, rocky coast, beaches and the stunning beauty of Roaring Water Bay.

Opening our senses, awakening our body, attuning our sense of space and place, becoming present and connected to the landscape, through Amerta Movement (a free-form improvised movement practice), gentle yoga, Yoga Nidra, meditation, art-making and mindful being in nature.

Supported by experienced facilitator and therapist, Claire Osborne.

This day will be a gift to your soul. Through Claire's expert and gentle guidance you will be offered experiences to bring you into a more intimate and curious connection with the natural world...... Slowing down and pausing enough that we can notice what we usually cannot see, hear and feel ... the intimate beauty of small things and passing moments .... the centre of a flower, the spiral of a shell, the brush of wind on our skin, sand on our toes, the solidity of rock, softness of grass, caress of water, time passing....

- attune to and awaken embodied sensitivity

- awaken the natural, expressive, impulsive movement of your body to connect with yourself and receive the world around you

- discover an intimate sense of connection and belonging with the natural world.

- drop into creative play through movement and art-making to express your response to and connection with the island.

- rest in the nourishing nest of Yoga Nidra, deep meditative rest.

No, so bring it with you. I will provide herbal teas and healthy snacks.

Do i need experience in movement, or yoga?

No! But you do need to be willing and able to explore different types of movement, and expression through the body.

What is Amerta Movement?

Amerta is a free-form movement practice. It's like Yoga without form, like dancing without music. You move however you want, following inner impulses and responding to the world around you. It's a doorway to awareness, expression, play and connection. More info here: https://www.yogaandmovement.com

What is the venue?

Heir Island retreat centre is a 20 minute walk from the ferry. It's a small studio, with a huge window looking out onto the bay. We'll spend time indoors, and around the studio on the grass, and visit a nearby beach.

How do I get there?

The ferry leaves from Cunnamore pier, about 20 minutes drive from Skibbereen off the road to Ballydehob. The turn off is signposted: Lisheen and Heir Island ferry. You leave the car there. The ferry is for foot passengers and takes only a few minutes. Make sure to arrive before 9.30!
