Join Eirmersive at OUTWARD where we're celebrating the achievements of Ireland's Immersive Technology sector as we launch our network and open for membership. Aligned with our mission to elevate the sector globally, this event will feature presentations from companies that have implemented immersive technology, showcasing the added value it brings to their businesses. These case studies will highlight the ambition and scale of Irish Immersive businesses, 80% of which are exporting globally. Our keynote speaker, Michael Barngrover, Managing Director of XR4Europe, will provide an overview of the European landscape in which our sector operates. He will also discuss key strategies from across Europe, including the Finnish Metaverse Strategy and EU Virtual World initiatives and related funding. With the global market for immersive technology projected to reach $167.75 billion by 2032, Eirmersive envisages Ireland becoming a leading destination for Immersive Technology solutions by 2030, leveraging our rich IT and creative talent. <h3>Michael Barngrover, Managing Director of XR4Europe </h3>Michael Barngrover is the Managing Director of XR4Europe, a pan-European association dedicated to advancing XR innovation, industry, and creativity across the continent. With a mission to unite XR professionals and organizations, XR4Europe amplifies member voices, advocates for industry needs, and facilitates collaboration and discovery through its expansive platform endorsed by European institutions.

Mary Walsh O'Shea, Adult Education Officer responsible for Certified Training &amp; Adult Education Guidance Service at WWETB.Mary will speak about using Virtual Reality from Emagine for Immersive Healthcare Simulations.

Ger Corbett, Chief Executive Officer at Sandyford Business District. Ger will speak about the implementation and use of a VR digital twin of Sandyford, from Realsim, for the EU project, IB-Green, which is all about greening strategies for industrial areas of cities which are traditionally poorly served by public amenity green spaces.

Dafydd Hall Williams, Artistic Director of Ulster Touring Opera. Dafydd will speak about how Belfast based company Ulster Touring Opera have harnessed the technology developed by Dublin based immersive technology company Volograms. Dafydd will cover two specific use cases where Volograms volumetric capture technology has played a central role: AR Don Giovanni and the Yardmen Trail AR Stories app.

Lee Willows, Founder &amp; Exec Chair of ESG Gaming.Lee will speak about the work of ESG Gaming, a multi award-winning not-for-profit organisation. Working in collaboration with Viverse, they have a focus on understanding how immersive technology might reduce loneliness and social isolation; reduce the risk factors for dementia, and provide an alternative, drug-free prescription for depression among those aged 50 years and over.

Alan Harrington, Technicial Training Specialist at First Polymer Training Skillnet Alan will speak about how First Polyer Training Skillnet is using a Virtual Reality training program from Mersus Technologies to support and enhance their Injection Moulding training.

Claire Rowley, Senior Manager of International Employee Engagement at Salesforce Claire will talk about how and why Salesforce has used Augmented Reality from Imvizar for employee engagement, their success and future plans.

Stephanie Anderson, Public Policy Manager for Meta in Ireland. Outward will host the launch ofThe Immersive Education Working Group Report . This report would not have been possible without the support of Meta and in particular Stephanie Anderson who we're delighted to have speaking on the night, when we'll summarize the Report's recommendations to government on advancing the adoption of XR across all levels of education.Stephanie is Public Policy Manager for Meta in Ireland. Her role involves working with policymakers and policy stakeholders on the issues of importance to Meta and its users in Ireland.Prior to joining Meta in 2019, Stephanie worked for the American Chamber of Commerce Ireland where she advocated on behalf of US companies across a range of sectors. Stephanie previously worked in politics in Ireland and has a background in EU public affairs.Stephanie holds an LLB in Law and European Studies from the University of Limerick and has completed studies at Oxford University, Boston College, King’s Inns and the Institute of Public Administration.

Dr. Zeta Dooly, lecturer in Digital Education in the School of Education and Lifelong Learning at South East Technological University. Zeta will present the key recommendations from the Immersive Education Working Group, which was chaired by Eirmersive and kindly supported by Meta (see above).

Eirmersive is proud to be supported by the Creative Ireland Programme and is receiving Government funding as part of the Digital Creative Industries Roadmap 2024-2026, approved and launched in February 2024. This roadmap aims to bolster the digital creative industries in Ireland, with Eirmersive playing a key role in elevating the Immersive Technology sector globally.

Welcome and Opening Address

End-user success stories from clients of Irish XR companies in a Lightning Talks format. Speakers will discuss their journey of implementing XR applications developed by Irish studios and solution providers.

Case Study Spotlight

Michael is the Managing Director of XR4Europe, an industry association that is a partner within the EU-funded XR4HUMAN and OpenVerse projects, through which he contributes to the work of these projects in building the future of virtual worlds in Europe. He partners with industry events, such as Stereopsia, to facilitate coordination and exchange between EU projects and programmes and he supports cascade funding projects, such as SERMAS, VOXReality, and CORTEX2, to maximize accessibility and impact of Horizon Europe funding.

He is a leader within the international XR communities XR Crowd and XR Türkiye (formerly Euromersive Türkiye), through which he supports knowledge exchange and networking events, and he mentors entrepreneurs and creatives through programs such as IMPULSE and Startup Wise Guys' XR-focused programmes.

He has developed VR and AR research projects for psychiatrists and archaeologists and occasionally teaches immersive design and VR and AR creation.

The Immersive Education Working Group has met four times over the course of 2024 and is currently finalizing Recommendations to Government on ways to incorporate AR/VR/MR into primary, secondary and tertiary curricula. The Group will highlight use cases from Ireland in a report that includes insights on the effectiveness of immersive education and additionally leverages examples from industry to showcase how immersive learning works within professional learning & training settings. Eirmersive is grateful to Meta for their support in making this Working Group possible.
