This CPD Event will highlight these issues with industry speakers who will demonstrate how good Keeping Building Fabric Moisture, Radon & Contaminant Free

This CPD will cover the following:

· Part C: An overview of the latest amendment, and other relevant Departmental updates.

· Dangerous Substances: The impact of the updated Radon map, compliant installation of barriers, sumps, and penetrations, measuring and testing.

· Resistance to Ground Moisture: Proper detailing and site installations to ensure the structure is dry and detailing to manage level threshold weathering and thermal issues.

· Use of materials that are “fit for use” for S.R. 21 Aggregates for sub-floor fill, paths and below ground structures.

· Resistance to Moisture in Floors, Walls and Roofs: How to ensure proper rendering (S.R. 18 or cladding is in use, proper roof finishing and materials.

·Avoiding mould, damp, and cold bridges: The need for thermal modelling of non-standard junctions.

The objective of the National Building Control and Market Surveillance Office (NBC&MSO) is to provide oversight, support & direction for the development, standardisation and implementation of Building Control and Market Surveillance of Construction Products (Construction Products Regulations EU 305/2011 (S.I. No. 225 of 2013 and S.I. 682 of 2020)) as an effective shared service in the 31 Building Control Authorities who fund the Office.

This is achieved through five pillars which include Inspection, Education Training, Compliance Support and Market Surveillance pillars supported by the IS-BCMS (Building Control Management System) pillar.The overall vision is to promote a “Culture of Compliance with the Building and Construction Products Regulations” among owners, builders, designers and assigned certifiers to ensure “health and safety of people in or about buildings” i.e. safe, accessible sustainable and good quality compliant building stock.
