Who Should Attend:
This course is designed for healthcare workers who need to be trained to safely move and handle patients under the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work 2005 and Manual Handling Regulations 1993 and 2007.

Course content:
- Relevant legislation
- Information on the spine, how it works, how it is inured and how to keep theback healthy and prevent injuries
- Ergonomics
- People handling assessments and handling plans
- Principles of safer handling
- Demonstration and practice of a range of manual handling and people handling techniques
- Problem solving
On completion of this Patient Handling course participants will be able to:
- Recognise a load which is too heavy or awkward
- Understand the limitations of the spine and muscular system
- Conduct a patient handling risk assessment
- Lift and handle patients safely
The course is highly interactive and will use practical assessment and interactive learning throughout the course.
Certification: A Guardian Emergency People Handling Training Certificate (3-year) is awarded to participants once they have successfully completed the course.
The training is delivered onsite, at our premises, as face-to-face training.
Prerequisites:
Before attending the course, it is mandatory that participants possess a Guardian Safety Manual Handling Theory certificate issued within the last six months.
Participants must be in good physical condition to perform lifts and other practical skills.
Participants must be fluent in English.
