About this event

Photo Etching Weekend Course

Tutor: Johnny Bugler

10am – 6pm

€300

This course explores the principles of photo etching. This process uses a light activated plate that is etched without the need for acid, creating results similar to photogravure, a nineteenth century photographic process. Participants gain an understanding of how to set up the work space as well as how to handle printing equipment and tools. They learn how to make plates using photopolymer film and readymade Japanese ‘solarplates’. They also learn how to ink up the plates by hand and print them in a press in the traditional manner. This course also explores the basics of making art using this medium, and participants produce a series of prints.

Cork Printmakers reserves the right to cancel any course with insufficient enrolment, and when this occurs any and all prepaid fees will be refunded. Cork Printmakers does not refund fees paid by participants who subsequently cancel their place in a course.
