About this event

POTTERY THROWDOWN WORKSHOP IN SCHULL

WELCOME TO OUR EVER-POPULAR THROWING DAY WORKSHOP!

ABOUT THIS CLASS

On this one-day workshop, in a small class setting, you will work on the wheel to shape clay with the helpful demonstrations by our pottery teachers, who will guide you to learn throwing techniques, and make small pots.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

You will develop skills to throw small pots on a pottery wheel including:

- how to handle your clay

- properly working with pottery tools

- centering and pulling a pot on the wheel

- utilizing shaping techniques

- taking your pot off the wheel

You may take as many of your pots home with you as you like, but please note the pots will airdry over a few days and may then be used for display. They will not be glazed or watertight. Please bring small boxes, like Tupperware or cardboard, to bring your creations home with you.

You will also be able to recycle the clay in these pieces at home if you wish to make something new. We will send you links to our tutorials with suggestions of what to make and how to decorate your pieces, at no extra cost.

We really hope you will enjoy your time on the wheel as much as we enjoy teaching it!
