Powerful Aging & (Peri)Menopause: The Importance of Vital Hormones & Lifestyle choices

Hunting Room, Castletown House

In her talk at Castletown House,Wilga Stappers will share her philosophy of powerful aging: rather than simply accepting what aging brings, she encourages women to take an active role in shaping it.MENOPAUSE is not just about hot flushes and mood swings. The loss of the vital hormones oestrogen, progesterone and testosterone affects every system in the body — your brain, your bones, your heart, your gut, your metabolism, your immune system. Understanding this, changes how you navigate (peri)menopause and your future health, aiming to age powerfully: staying strong, healthy and vibrant.Wilga is a Dutch women's health advocate based in Ireland. Trained as a lawyer and yoga teacher, her own mid-life journey brought her to in-depth study and research into female biology and menopause, and to sharing her insights about powerful aging for women. As part of her ongoing studies in women's health and menopause, including Harvard Medical School's Women's Health and Menopause programme, she addresses:-the role of women's vital hormones: oestrogen, progesterone and testosterone, which regulate nearly every cell, tissue and organ in the body-common concerns and misconceptions around HRT (hormone replacement therapy)-how to optimize and individualize HRT in order to make HRT work for you-the importance of lifestyle choices regarding exercise strategies and nutrition in menopauseOffering women the knowledge to make informed and confident decisions in menopause about their health and vitality. www.Powerfulagingforwomen.com For further details contact Michelle Wyse at michelle.wyse@opw.ie
