This year we will have a particular focus on adapting to new working conditions caused by COVID-19 and the specific challenges LGBTQ+ people face. The second day of the event will be tailored to those who have lost or are at risk of losing employment due to the COVID crisis and those entering the workforce. We have teamed up with the award winning event company <a href="https://www.fuelhq.ie/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">FUEL </a>to create to ultimate real life conference experience from the comfort of your own home.This will be more than a training conference as we launch our new website www.prideatwork.ie, a permanent resource for LGBTQ+ employers, employees and jobseekers, and the 2021 Pride Guide to Employment, Training and Recruitment.NetworkingWe know that its often the time between sessions and at the end of the day that can be the most valuable at a conference. Our networking tools will allow audience members to connect one-on-one with other attendees, just like you would at a live event. The connection discovery tool pairs people up one-on-one via live video so you can expand your networks, meet new people and make new connections.Expo Hall and Virtual Community CentreThe conference centre will be open from 6.00am on January 27th through to 6.00am on January 30th. During that time you can take a stroll through our exhibition hall and visit a host of virtual booths, find out about the support systems available and interact with community organisations.Participants can take part online either live or anytime after (all modules will be available to watch after the event through our website). Those who take part in all 8 modules through the conference platform and complete a questionnaire will receive a 2021 Pride at Work training course certificate. As many LGBTQ+ people come out in stages, close friends, then work colleagues, then family, will people find it harder to come out, and what can be done to help? Gillian Fagan (Psychotherapist), Dermot McCarthy (Therapist) and Philippa Ryder (Diversity Champion) from <a href="https://www.undertherainbow.ie/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Under the Rainbow</a> will explore these questions and offer practical advice for employers and staff.2.00pm - 3.00pmModule 3 - Building Resilience - While Working from HomeWith the long-term impact of COVID-19 remaining unclear, it is of ever greater importance that LGBTQ+ people prioritise their mental health and sense of wellbeing by taking definite steps to build their resilience while working from home. Participants will gain practical skills to develop self-awareness, create a self-care practice, understand the importance of boundaries, improve communication skills, acquire the skills to work effectively and make working from home more enjoyable.Dil Wickremasinghe from <a href="https://www.insightmatters.ie/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Insight Matters</a> will offer advice on self-care and mental wellbeing while working remotely.3.30pm - 4.30pmModule 4 - The Role of Philanthropy in Supporting LGBTQ+ CommunitiesThis panel will reflect on the role corporate philanthropy has played in supporting LGBTQ+ communities over the past number of years, including at landmark moments like Marriage Equality. We will also hear insights on the emerging needs and response of LGBTQ+ communities in Ireland in the context of COVID-19, and how The Community Foundation for Ireland and others can make a difference. In this module, you will learn to identify and more importantly practice effective allyship in the workplace and beyond. Additionally, we will talk about the history of LGBTQ+ workers’ rights in Ireland and persisting inequalities, with a special focus on communities of colour. You will benefit both professionally and personally from an increased self-awareness and learn how to use your individuality as an asset, even in what may be perceived as more conservative industries. Presented by: Bella Fitzpatrick and Aifric Ní Chrídáin of <a href="https://www.shoutout.ie/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">ShoutOut</a>2.00pm - 3.00pmModule 3 - Support AvailableTechnological innovations and other predictable and unpredictable drivers of change, such as the COVID-19 pandemic, are constantly reshaping the economy, and with it, the demand on workers and their skills. In this module, host Paul Ryder will be joined by representatives from the Departments of Social Protection and Education to discuss government initiatives for life-long learning. Together they will explore the range of training opportunities and supports available and how to access them. This module is all about building a strong foundation for your career and will focus on getting the basics right.
