Description
Central Arts has announced a major new collaboration for 2016 with Kilkenny’s acclaimed Devious Theatre. We have joined forces to produce ‘Pulled’ a brand new piece of theatre from playwright Niamh Moroney which will form part of the programme for Devious’ tenth birthday celebrations recently announced at a reception at Kilkenny’s Watergate Theatre.
Pulled tells the story of Amanda and Michelle, two women battling through ‘the fear’ and a digital rollercoaster of clues to assemble memories of a particularly wasted night. It is a follow-up piece to Niamh’s highly successful ‘Yer Wan’ and will be performed by the author and actor Andrea Bolger and Niamh Moroney. Pulled is to run at Central Arts Theatre and Kilkenny’s Set Theatre in September.
This collaboration marks the first co-production for Devious and is also the first project to arise out of Niamh Moroney’s year as theatre artist in residence at Central Arts. “We’re really delighted to be working with such a talented group of people as the Devious guys”, said Ciara O Connell, director of Central Arts of the project, “And this kind of regional collaboration means that we’ll be able to get our work to much wider audience. We’re already looking at further national touring beyond Waterford and Kilkenny. Niamh’s residence with us is really bringing Great things to Central Arts. Onwards and upwards!''.
This production is funded by Waterford City and County Council under its New Play & Producer scheme and by Kilkenny County Council.
