Workshop agenda

Introduction to Rapid Research

  • What is Rapid Research? When is it appropriate for research to be Rapid?
  • Attendees will reflect on what Rapid Research looks like in their workplace.
  • Rapid Research method examples: what are common Rapid Study designs? Focusing on designs that are fit for clinical trials.

Rapid approaches to study design

  • Rapid at each research stage: overview of a range of rapid approaches that teams can apply during study set-up, data collection, analysis, and dissemination.
  • We will cover strategies that are commonly used to bypass or speed up traditional research methods.
  • Course participants will choose a relevant research question and design their own Rapid study.

Rapid analysis

  • An introduction to table-based analysis methods and Collaborative Matrix Analysis (CMA) in particular. These are structured analysis approaches that facilitate teamwork and analysing larger amounts of data in shorter timeframes.
  • RREAL sheets: A Rapid Research method to collect and synthesise data simultaneously. RREAL sheets can be used with any kind of qualitative data, including interviews, open-ended surveys, and literature reviews. We will provide a guide on how to use RREAL sheets and present some examples.
  • Introduction to Strategies for Patient and Public Involvement in Time Sensitive Contexts (SPRINT): RREAL’s model for patient and public involvement and engagement (PPIE) in rapid research and evaluation. Emphasizing inclusivity and diversity strategies for participant recruitment.
