In this workshop, Orla Egan, the founder of the Cork LGBT Archive, will deliver a short introduction to the history of modern Irish LGBTQ+ Activism and a selection of placards and banners that have been used during various LGBTQ+ protests. This will be followed by a placard-making workshop facilitated by artist and educator Sarah Edmondson where participants will be guided through a design process, combining typography with line drawings to create strong visual statements. The final placards will be exhibited in the Workshop Space at Uillinn: West Cork Arts Centre during the RFR Residency.
Sarah Edmondson is a practicing visual artist supported by the Arts Council and an art educator with over 12 years of experience delivering workshops in galleries and museums. Sarah also worked as a second-level art teacher for six years.
