Istituto Italiano di Cultura presents the film Salvatore - Questa è la vita (2006), by film director Gian Paolo Cugno. A drama in Italian and Sicilian languages with English subtitles. Durantion: 90 mins.

Synopsis: Salvatore is a young orphan living in Sicily with his little sister and their grandmother. After losing his father in a tragic way, he quits school and starts working as a fisherman and farmer to support his family. The Social Services soon discover the situation and resolve to put Salvatore in an orphanage, parting him from his family. Only an idealistic teacher tries to help him.

Gian Paolo Cugno is an Italian film director and screenwriter. In Rome he followed a long apprenticeship as assistant director and assistant editor, also collaborating on the creation of screenplays for cinema. He makes various documentaries and short films, participating in festivals in Italy and abroad.
