What a programme we have in store for you.

Arts in Action and Galway Music Residency present Sander Saarments in an open workshop. The Estonian electronic musician and composer is in residence with Galway Music Residency until the end of the year. If you have seen Sander in action over the last few weeks, you may have been intrigued by how he creates and shapes sounds with his array of colourful equipment. And so we are delighted to offer the public the opportunity to take a closer look! On Saturday 30th November, you can join Sander for a relaxed talk with demonstrations followed by the chance to try out some of his synths and modulars for anyone who wants to give it a go. This workshop is open to the general public as well as curious musicians and students. See the schedule below. 2pm - talk with demonstrations 3pm - break with refreshments 3:30pm - your turn! (not obligatory)

Sander Saarmets, an Estonian composer and electronic musician, has ventured across international electronic scenes since the 2000s, studying composition and performance in Tallinn (EAMT), Stockholm (KMH), Lyon (CNSMD) and Hamburg (HfMT). He's known for creating music and soundscapes for various art forms, including film (e.g. Everyday Mysticism &amp; A Pile of Ghosts), contemporary dance (e.g. Ainukordus &amp; Artefactourism), and galleries (e.g. We Will Always Have Paris &amp; Ghost Hits Wall). In the fall of 2020, his music was featured at New York Fashion Week. In 2023, his composition and the sky turned yellow (2022) was selected as one of the recommended works at the 69th International Rostrum of Composers in Hague. Regional_Express (a project by Ella Raidel, Petra Ardai and Marlene Rutzendorfer), an audiovisual experience on the regional train and in VR, is featured at the European Capital of Culture Bad Ischl Salzkammergut 2024. Sander‘s Sound Performance for Regional_Express was part of the Opening Program of Salzkammergut 2024. Sound in all of its beauty, power and fragility is Sander’s main field of interest, next to creating semi-open systems for both the players and the audience to get lost in.He has released albums under the monikers of Muschraum &amp; V4R1.sandersaarmets.com
