Sculpture in Context Gallery Viewing

About this event

Sculpture in Context is the largest sculpture exhibition in Ireland. Showcasing sculpture for 35 years, this annual event is organised by Sculpture in Context, an artist-led organisation, in association with the Office of Public Works and the National Botanic Gardens.

The majority of pieces are distributed outdoors throughout the Gardens and can be seen during the Gardens' opening hours (Mon-Fri 10:00-17:00, Sat-Sun 10:00-18:00).There is no booking needed to view outdoor sculptures.

Indoor viewings take place from Thursdays through Saturdays for the duration of the exhibition. As access to the gallery is limited due to Covid-19, indoor viewing must be pre-booked.

Indoor viewing is limited to 30 minutes per ticket. Please arrive at least 5 minutes before your 30-minute slot. One ticket must be booked per person attending, including children.

Unfortunately because of current restrictions, we cannot cater for groups of any kind for the indoor exhibition. We are happy to welcome groups to the outdoor exhibition where over 90 sculptures can be viewed without booking.

Safety & Covid-19

At this time we are conscious of your safety and that of our staff. For each 30-minute slot, a maximum of 15 people will attend. Staff will wear a mask and attendees must also wear a mask and adhere to social distancing and any relevant government guidelines in relation to Covid-19.

By booking a tour, you affirm that, to the best of your knowledge, all members of your party have no symptoms of COVID-19.

About Sculpture in Context

Sculpture in Context was established in 1985 to raise the profile of sculpture in Ireland and provide a platform for artists outside the normal gallery context. It is a not-for-profit organisation run by sculptors. The exhibition has been staged in the National Botanic Gardens since 2002.

Sculpture in Context promotes artists and creates opportunities for practicing artists to exhibit their works in a wider public arena. The organisation has provided much needed opportunities for Irish and non-Irish sculptors in Ireland.
