Embroidery workshop with traditional tattoo illustrations with Emma Ray

About this event

Are you interested in a creative career? This year Seek Festival have joined forces with 5 incredible artists to create a series of unique workshop events. Each workshop will consist of a hands on workshop where you can learn new skills and techniques. There will also be a talk from the artist about their practice, past projects and their career journey.

These workshops are suitable for ages 16+ who are interested in a creative career. They are also suitable for adults wanting to start a creative career.Emma Ray is an artist based in Dundalk who is working in Tattoo , sculpture as well as traditional techniques of embroidery ,painting &print. She received a BA in Fine Art from DIT in 2013. Her commercial artwork’s subject matter is miniature landscape, small sections of the ground, rocks, foliage and other overlooked elements of the ground we walk on. She was commissioned by TII and The Royal Irish Academy for a public sculpture in 2019, celebrating William Rowan Hamilton’s discovery of his formula for Quaternions in Broombridge, Dublin. She has recently received funding from Create Louth for a gorilla style sculpture project.

SEEK Festival is centered on promoting contemporary urban art in Dundalk, Ireland. By commissioning established and emerging artists locally, nationally and internationally, we aim to promote the town culturally and artistically, repositioning the area as a vibrant hub for creativity.

SEEK 2022 will highlight the important influence art can have in the public domain, its role as a catalyst for change, helping reinvigorate and refresh some of our town centre spaces. The themes behind the artwork will be instrumental in telling Dundalk's story and connect people to our history and heritage.

Culturally Dundalk has been shaped over the ages, with many historical figures and events. With our outdoor art gallery, we hope to generate and inspire local pride and help to forge a new identity based on creativity, while still celebrating our past.
