About this event

Sisters II, hosted by The Royal Irish Academy Library, continues the celebration of sisterhood. National Heritage Week 2022 kicks off the monthly lecture series on 17 August and ends with the official launch of the Sisters publication on 10 November.

See RIA Publications to order the book and listen back to the first series of lectures.

The final evening lecture of this second series will be delivered by Claire Connolly, MRIA, Professor of Modern English at University College Cork, on the lives and writings of Miss Sydney and Miss Olivia Owenson.

The lecture will be followed by the launch of Sisters, edited by Siobhán Fitzpatrick and Mary O'Dowd.

Claire Connolly is Professor of Modern English at University College Cork. A cultural history of the Irish novel, 1790–1829 (Cambridge Studies in Romanticism) won the Donald J. Murphy Prize. With Marjorie Howes (Boston College), Professor Connolly is General Editor of Irish literature in transition, 1700– 2020 (Cambridge University Press, 2020); and editor of Volume 2 of the series, Irish literature in transition, 1780–1830.
