About this event

  • 7 hours

The course includes a classroom based theoretical session in the morning followed by a practical session on the beach. Participants will be trained how to safely move a dolphins body weight on a beach using a life sized dolphin replica. During the practical session, participants will be asked to demonstrate their learning by completing different potential scenarios covered in the mornings theory session.

Topics covered include

  • Species ID & biology
  • Live stranding causes
  • Palliative Care
  • Rescue techniques
  • Data recording for stranding events

Following this course participants will be aware of current best practice and hopefully the confidence to make an informed decision if ever face to face with a beached whale or dolphin.
