Event description
A fortnightly mindfulness practice and circle group in which we practice with the support of a community to stay open and engaged with life.

About this Event

This is a fortnightly mindfulness practice group in which we practice staying open to life during difficult times. We practice compassionate awareness of the events of our own lives, alongside the social issues which are intensifying in our countries and across the world, and which are crying out for our wise and caring attention.

Practicing in supportive community helps us to show up for the long haul, to stay present and to extend our circles of connection and belonging. In these sessions there is lightly-guided mindfulness practice and sharing in 'connection circle'. Some prior experience of mindfulness meditation, or another awareness practice, is recommended.

Background:

It's easy to feel overwhelmed in the midst of a pandemic by the volume of social and planetary problems that are crying out for attention, and at a loss as to how to respond. Increasingly, Buddhist teachers in particular are providing us with helpful roadmaps for how to engage with the world without burning out. Their guidance helps us to both stay connected to the needs of our own life and to mindfully show up in the world for the long haul. Engaging mindfully together then becomes a path of practice in itself, one which helps us to realise and experience our deep and fundamental connection, or 'interdependence', with others and with the planet itself. This can be a source of great resilience and even joy.
