Our meeting point will be Taylor's 3Rock Pub and Muisc Venue, Grange Road, Rathfarnham Dublin 16. Eircode: D16 H2K6.You can enjoy lunch or a meal, at your own expense, before or after your visit. From there we will walk the short walk to the garden for our guided tour.
There will be so much to enjoy in this 18 acre garden, parts of which date back to the 1760s. Our visit will coincide with magnolia season, with over 50 varieties to delight us, including M. Yellow Bird and M. campbellii ‘Darjeeling’ as well as camellias and rhododendrons dotted throughout the woodland and along the banks of the Little Dargle River.
Then there are the 4,000 trees to admire from pre-existing oaks, beech and sycamores to the more unusual Woodwardia radicans, Pterocarya fraxinifolia and Sequoia sempervirens.
Close to the house more formal gardens can be found. Designed by June Blake, we can look forward to tulips of all colours to delight our eyes on our Spring visit.
Please note the terrain of this garden is hilly and some parts of it are described as strenuous. While there are footpaths throughout, sturdy footwear and a reasonable level of fitness is required.
Important Note: the exact location has been difficult to pinpoint on a map. Details directions will be emailed to attendees a few days before the event.
Note: As demand for this garden visit is expected to be high, this will be a members only visit.
