Can you tell me about the St Kevin’s Way?

St. Kevin’s Way is a moderate grade, way-marked linear trail between Hollywood village and Glendalough. The total walk is 30km.   Our guided walk takes us along 19km of the Way.

What is St Kevin’s Way Easter walk like?

Starting at Granamore (10AM), we walk on a minor road, before crossing a wooden bridge onto forest tracks to Ballinagee Bridge. We then follow forest tracks up to the Wicklow Gap and down the Miner's Trail into Glendalough, arriving at approx 4PM. A bus brings us back to the start.

Are there toilets?

Limited Toilet available at the start. As we abide by 'leave no trace' please take away any tissues or wet wipes used on the hike. Toilets available at Glendalough Visitor's Centre

What should I wear?

Please wear waterproof boots/shoes, bring waterproof rain gear, a hat and an extra top. Please bring a HIGH VIS vest – a short portion of the walk is on a busy road. Please walk in single file on the road

Bring a packed lunch and water – we have more water available at our breaks. Please bring any required medications with you. Bring an extra top for warmth.

What is St Kevin's Way trail?

The trail follows the old pilgrimage route known as St. Kevin’s Road that follows the footsteps of St Kevin through the hills of Wicklow to the valley of The Two Lakes (Glendalough) where he spent the rest of his life in solitary prayer and contemplation.

Is the St Kevin’s Way walk difficult?

Walking St Kevin’s Way can be physically demanding, and you should only attempt it if you have regular experience of walking longer distances. This is a long walk. Please be prepared!
Do not register or attempt the walk if you are carrying an injury, or have an underlying medical condition.

Is the walk suitable for children?

The walk is NOT suitable for children under the age of 16 years. All children 16+ must be accompanied by an adult.

What kind of terrain?

The St Kevin’s Way route traverses a variety of terrain including roads, gravel paths, boggy ground, timber boardwalks, forest tracks, grassy trails, and uneven surfaces. Wear suitable waterproof footwear.

NO DOGS are allowed – no exceptions.

Is St Kevin’s Way a pilgrim path?

St. Kevin’s Way is one of the five designated pilgrim paths in Ireland and is included in the Irish Pilgrim Path Passport. www.pilgrimpath.ie On completion of the route walkers get their passports stamped with a labyrinth symbol.

Can I get a Pilgrim Passport

Yes. We have pilgrim passports, available at start of our walks – additional cost: €5 each. Passports will be stamped at end.
