Can you tell me about the St Kevin’s Way?

St. Kevin’s Way is a moderate grade, way-marked linear trail between Hollywood village and Glendalough. It is approximately 30km.

What is the guided walk like?

We walk from Hollywood GAA, through Hollywood village and onto St Kevin’s Way, which is a way marked route. We walk to Granamore, via Ballinagee Bridge up to the Wicklow Gap to Glendalough.

What is the terrain like?

We walk mostly on country roads to Granamore, where we have our first break for breakfast. We walk onto Ballinagee Bridge, via a minor road, and then on forest tracks, over boardwalk up to the Wicklow Gap, on uneven track past the Miner’s Village, and along a small road to Glendalough.

This St Kevin’s Way guided walk is 30km. This is a significant distance so please be prepared!

The walk is timed to finish in Glendalough at approximately 5.30pm. 
In the interests of safety all walkers who cannot achieve a very modest pace must exit the walk, accept a lift back to the start, or proceed at their own risk.

Is the St Kevin’s Way walk difficult?

St Kevin’s Way can be physically demanding, and you should only attempt it if you have regular experience of walking longer distances. This is a long walk. Please be prepared! Do not register or attempt the walk if you are carrying an injury, have an underlying medical condition.

The walk is NOT suitable for children under the age of 16 years.

What kind of hike is St Kevin's Way?

The St Kevin’s Way route traverses a variety of terrain including roads, gravel paths, boggy ground, timber boardwalks, forest tracks, grassy trails, and uneven surfaces. Wear suitable waterproof footwear.

What should I bring?

Bring a hat and an extra top, waterproof boots/shoes, and waterproof raincoat and suncream! Bring a lunch and water – we have more water available at our breaks. Bring a HIGH VIS vest – a short portion of the walk is on a busy road. Please walk in single file on the road.

NO DOGS are allowed – no exceptions.

How many breaks will I get on the walk?

We will be stopping for a short breakfast break, one lunch break and a short refreshment break. There will be light refreshments available at the breaks and water refills. There will be tea and coffee available at registration in the morning, and at the main lunch break.

What is St Kevin's Way trail?

The trail follows the old pilgrimage route known as St. Kevin’s Road that follows the footsteps of St Kevin through the hills of Wicklow to the valley of The Two Lakes (Glendalough) where he spent the rest of his life in solitary prayer and contemplation.

Is St Kevin’s Way a pilgrim path?

St. Kevin’s Way is one of the five designated pilgrim paths in Ireland and is included in the Irish Pilgrim Path Passport. www.pilgrimpath.ie On completion of the route walkers get their passports stamped with a labyrinth symbol.

Yes. We have pilgrim passports, available at start of our walks – additional cost: €5 each. Passports will be stamped at end.

Is the walk guided or self-led?

St Kevin’s Way pilgrim walk on 30th March 2024 is led by our Walk Leaders. 
St Kevin’s Way follows a waymarked trail and walkers should look out for black direction posts with a yellow pilgrim symbol, and brown direction posts at road junctions.

How much does the walk cost?

Cost: €25 to cover, insurance, bus and refreshments.

Can I get a refund?

Accepted Answer

There is a seven-day cancellation policy. A full refund can be issued if you cancel seven days before the event. Otherwise, we cannot refund you. If the event is cancelled by the organisers for any reason, full refunds will be issued.
