Speaker Biographies

Max Smeets is the Co-Director of Virtual Routes. He also holds research positions at ETH Zurich and Stanford University’s Centre for International Security and Cooperation. Max is the author of Ransom War: How Cyber Crime Became a Threat to National Security.

Max van der Horst is a Senior Cybersecurity Consultant at Virtual Routes. Max is also closely involved with the Dutch Institute for Vulnerability Disclosure (DIVD), where he helps coordinate investigations into the public exposure, exploitation, and remediation of emerging vulnerabilities.
